Boone County native and Van High School graduate Tony Gibson, defensive coordinator for WVU, attended to show his support of the scholarship program. In addition, Gibson made a $25,000 donation to the Boone Memorial Hospital building project.
“My family and I wanted to give back to the community that has given so much to us,” said Gibson.
The hospital broke ground on its new facility in August 2014 and is scheduled to open in spring 2016.

Board Member Bill Stone and Chief Operating Officer Mark Linville accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital.
“We are very appreciative to Tony and his family. This new hospital will benefit so many in our area and it was evident Tony has a true love for our county and the people in it,” said Stone.
According to the WVU Mountaineer Football office the donation by Gibson will be featured on the Mountaineer Football website.
