The BMH Foundation for Community Health held a Breast Cancer Prevention Lunch & Learn on Friday, October 20. Presenter, Ladie Viars, BSN, RN, Director of Clinical Education and Community Health, shared tips and strategies for preventing breast cancer.

Lora Ballard, RT(R)M, BMH Radiology Lead Mammography Technologist spoke about new advancements in mammography and the importance of conducting self breast exams and getting a yearly mammogram.
Local survivors; Daisy Plaster, Joy Goodson, and Trena Adkins shared their emotional and inspiring stories. Both Joy and Trena are hospital employees.

According to the American Cancer Society, women between 40 and 44 have the option to start screening with a mammogram every year. Women 45 to 54 should get a mammogram annually. If a woman's breast cancer risk is determined to be high, mammography and/or other types of imaging should begin earlier than age 40.
BMH continues to offer half-price mammograms each October. Our 3D mammograms utilize advanced technology to improve breast cancer detection and patient comfort. Call 304.369.8805 to schedule your appointment.
Funding for the Lunch and Learn provided by Boone Memorial Health and, in part by, the Boone County Community Foundation.
