MADISON – Boone Memorial Hospital employees, administration, Board of Directors, local dignitaries, county officials and guests witnessed history Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, as the final piece of steel was placed in the new hospital.

The new Boone Memorial hospital is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2016.

“The event is known as the ‘Topping Out Ceremony,’” explained CEO Virgil Underwood. “It will truly be a day to remember.”

As part of the Topping Out Ceremony, hospital staff and board of directors were asked to wear blue to initiate a “BLUE OUT.”

“We recently changed our logo to blue,” explained Chief Development Officer, Dave Gresham. “We were glad to see as many staff participated to initiate a BMH BLUE OUT, which in turn will help us unveil our new hospital color and logo.”

BMH administration, along with the Board of Directors or other local community leaders and dignitaries were given the opportunity to sign the last piece of steel before it was placed in the new facility.

Construction workers placed an American flag on the last piece of steel as it was hoisted to applaud from the crowd that attended the event.

“Employees lined the hillside as the steel was placed,” said CEO Mark Linville. “The support from staff and the community has been wonderful and is vital to the project’s success.”

The Topping Out Ceremony was held on the hospital grounds in Madison.

“We hope everyone will help us continue to ‘Build the Excitement’ as the project continues,” concluded Underwood.
