Physician of Obstetrics and Gynecology new in Madison

Boone Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. David J. Patton to the area. Dr. Patton began providing services to residents of Boone, Lincoln, Logan and surrounding counties on February 28, 2017. Patton offers GYN-Women’s Health at the Boone Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic located at across the street from the new hospital in the former Physical Therapy building. In addition, he will perform minor gynecologic surgeries in the new Boone Memorial Hospital surgical suite.

“I’m looking forward to working in the Madison area and watching this partnership with Boone Memorial Hospital grow,” said Dr. Patton.

Procedures that will be performed by Dr. Patton at Boone Memorial Hospital include, but are not limited to, Dilation and Curettage, D&C Hysteroscopy, Tubal Ligation, Laparoscopy, Endometrial Ablation, Biopsy of the Vulva, Cervical Conization, Cervical Biopsy and Diagnostic Laparoscopy.

Patton completed his under graduate studies at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Honors included Cum Laude Graduate, Y Scholarship, Alvina S Barrett Zoology Scholarship and Golden Key National Honor Society. He then attended Medical School at the West Virginia University, Robert C Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, WV where he received his Doctor of Medicine. Honors included Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, West Virginia University Medicine Scholarship and the James H. Ashworth Scholarship.

Patton completed his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the West Virginia University, Charleston Area Medical Center Campus in Charleston, WV. Honors included Superior Resident Performance Award and Excellence in Endoscopy Award.

In Dr. Patton’s spare time he enjoys target shooting, working on cars, running and biking. He has been married to his wife Cindy for 28 years and they reside in South Charleston. They have 4 children, all sons; ranging from ages 20-27. They have one grandson who is 3 years old as well as 2 dogs, 3 horses and a cat.

In addition to his specialty in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Patton has received special certifications and training in liposuction and aesthetic laser treatments for age/sun damage, hair removal, laser fat destruction and vaginal dryness. He also holds certifications as an American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) Diplomate, which distinguishes a physician as having specialized knowledge in the practice of obesity medicine.

When asked what Dr. Patton liked most about being a physician he said, “It’s the interaction with the patients. I wanted to be a doctor since I was a child,” he said.

Citizens of Madison and surrounding areas are excited for Dr. Patton’s presence in the area. It will give patients the opportunity to get the quality healthcare they need close to home.

Patton will continue his practice in Charleston and Beckley and will initially see patients in his Madison office the last Tuesday of each month. Days and times will be increased as needed.
