Boone Memorial Hospital gets in the Christmas spirit & helps community

On Friday, December 21st Boone Memorial Hospital employees sang Christmas carols throughout the hospital and made a special visit to each patient room.

"We understand being in the hospital during the holidays is particularly difficult, so we wanted to do something to bring each and every patient a little Christmas cheer," said Mark Linville, Chief Operating Officer at Boone Memorial Hospital.

In addition to carols, each patient received a beautiful red Christmas blanket, compliments of the hospital. The Dietary staff supplied cookies, punch and cupcakes in the hospital lobby for guests and employees.

"It was a special day," added Linville.

Just days before the caroling events, the Nursing Staff organized an angel tree program for 70 local children.

Each child received several gifts. The Nursing staff along with a representative from the Pulmonary Rehab Dept delivered the gifts and held a party for the children.

The hospital also participated in the Family Resource Network's Crafts with Santa Program held at the Fountain of Life Worship Center. Employees gave out candy canes and greeted the children.

Lastly, employees attended the Down Home Christmas Celebration at the Madison Civic Center sponsored by the Children's Home Society and Rev Up Madison. Hospital staff provided supplies and helped nearly 100 children make a home made Christmas ornament.

"I recently told hospital staff that I was honored to work with such caring individuals, and I meant every word. Not only do our employees treat each patient with the utmost care and compassion, they genuinely care about our community and display that through various acts of kindness, like these," said Virgil Underwood, Hospital CEO.

"We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year," concluded Underwood.
