In an effort to make COVID-19 testing more easily accessible, Boone Memorial Hospital is offering a drive-thru testing site.

"We want to ensure our community has easy access to testing," said hospital CEO, Virgil Underwood. "It's our intent to make the process convenient and simple. We also realize that the probability for cases to rise after people return from vacation is a concern. Therefore, we want to remain ready for a potential influx of coronavirus cases. The easier people can receive testing, the better," he explained. "People who drive-thru for testing don't even have to get out of their vehicle."

The drive thru testing site began July 7th and is located in Danville at the former Bank of Danville (across from Walgreens) in Boone County. Testing is performed Monday through Friday from 9am until 1pm and will continue until further notice.

"To expedite the process, we are offering pre-registration by phone for same day testing," said Underwood. "We want to make the process quick and easy for the community. Pre-registration is one way we can do that."
Underwood explained that you will need to come to the drive thru clinic the same day you
pre-register, however pre-registration is not required. To pre-register call 304-369-8813 between 8am and 12pm, Monday through Friday.

A physician order is required, however, a Boone Memorial Hospital medical provider is available at the testing site to assess patients and write orders. Please note that patients should be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by a guardian. Patients will receive testing results within
3-5 days. Drive-Thru testing is covered by most insurances, with no out of pocket fees or
co-pays. No patient will be turned away due to inability to pay.

Underwood said that 118 people went through the drive-thru on July 13th alone and nearly 450 have been tested since the drive-thru clinic began on July 7th.
"We want to keep you and your family safe," said Underwood. "That has, and will continue to be, our number one goal."
