The 6th annual Boone Memorial Hospital Golf Tournament raised just over $50,000. Proceeds benefit scholarships, investment in local community initiatives and Brighter Futures (Substance & Mental Health Treatment Program). The event was held on Friday, August 20th at the Logan Country Club in Chapmanville, WV.

This year marked the most participation between sponsors and teams.

"We were very pleased with the overwhelming amount of interest and support of the BMH Campaign this year," said Mark Linville, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. "We had 18 total teams. Since it's a 9-hole course, we decided to have two flights. It worked very well," Linville said.

11 teams played the morning flight and 7 teams played the afternoon flight.

Each golfer received lunch, a polo shirt and a backpack. In addition, team registration included golf cart fees, beverages, raffle ticket (1 per player) and mulligans, red tees and throw tickets (1 per 18 holes). Additional activities included a putting contest, 50/50 raffle and double your money on Hole 7.

"Nearly 3/4 of our players won a prize," said Linville. "It was a great day."

Team and individual skill hole prizes were awarded, including longest putt, closest to pin, straightest drive, 1st , 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

"Since there were more players in the morning, versus afternoon, we chose to add a 4th place award for the morning flight," explained Linville.

“Boone Memorial Hospital is humbled by the tremendous support," said Virgil Underwood, Chief Executive Officer, Boone Memorial Hospital. "We see this event as ample opportunity to further our mission and purpose, partly of which is to improve the health of the communities we serve as a whole. We are grateful to all who helped us make this annual event an ongoing success. It's important to support purposeful community initiatives, and this event and partnerships allows us to expand upon that."

The first Boone Memorial Hospital Golf Tournament was held in 2015.

"Unfortunately, we had to cancel our tournament in 2020, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), or this would've been our 7th annual event," explained Linville. "We were thankful to be able to come back together with our supporters and coworkers this year and have a successful event."
