National Hospital Week is an opportunity to highlight the innovative, caring ways hospitals, health systems, and health care workers support the needs of their community members and patients. This year’s National Hospital Week theme is “Inspiring Hope through Healing."
In a message to personnel, Boone Memorial Hospital (BMH) Chief Executive Officer Virgil Underwood commended them for adapting during a very difficult year.
"Over the past year, we have faced the immense challenge of providing healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has changed the way we work, live, and interact with others in our daily lives, and your commitment during this time cannot be overstated."
In recognition and appreciation of BMH personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic, the BMH Board of Directors approved Administration’s request for a $500 COVID-19 Hero Bonus to all personnel members.
General Counsel and Chief Human Resources Officer Ray Harrell said, “Our personnel have exhibited incredible resilience through the uncertainty and challenges presented by the pandemic. As the nation highlights hospitals, health systems, and health care workers during National Hospital Week, we are honored to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of our own health care heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic with this bonus.”
National Hospital Week 2021 was celebrated from May 9 through May 15. In celebration, BMH provided lunch from Chick-fil-A to all personnel.
"Each of you is crucial in fulfilling our mission, which is 'to provide high quality, compassionate, accessible, cost-effective health care services, in an atmosphere of love and concern, to the residents of Boone County and the surrounding areas.' Through your resolute dedication to our patients and their families, you continue to truly inspire hope through healing in our communities," Underwood concluded.
