Boone Memorial Hospital receives Inaugural 2021 West Virginia Rural Health Leaders Award

The Center for Rural Health Development, Inc, the West Virginia Office of Rural Health, and the West Virginia Rural Health Association, are proud to announce the Inaugural 2021 West Virginia Rural Health Leaders Award, which recognizes and honors the incredible contributions West Virginia leaders have made to save lives, advance health equity, and protect communities in West Virginia.

Boone Memorial Hospital (BMH) was nominated and selected as one of the Inaugural 2021 West Virginia Rural Health Leaders. Celebrating the Power of Rural recognizes the outstanding leadership, superior public service, and significant contributions of Boone Memorial Hospital and other award winners who have worked diligently to improve the health of West Virginians.

Michelle Chappell, MS, Program Manager, WV Immunization Network and The Center for Rural Health Development, Inc. said,

"As we wrap up recognition of Rural Health Leaders and National Rural Health Month, we want to recognize Boone Memorial Hospital. Early during the pandemic, the staff faced long days and the uncertainty of what the next day would bring. In the face of the pandemic, the BMH Rural Health Clinics, hospital staff and the BMH Emergency Department demonstrated nothing short of a complete team effort. These healthcare workers endured long lines, while testing patients in drive-through clinics, met with patient families, and remained true to their mission: 'Patients First'. In addition, to support their team and community, BMH developed an Employee Wellness Program to keep employees healthy, along with a community-based Healthy Lifestyle Program.
